An adaptive modified fuzzy-sliding mode longitudinal control design and simulation for vehicles equipped with ABS system

Authors

Abstract:

In order to improve the safety and longitudinal stability of a vehicle equipped with standard ABS system, this paper, analyzes the basic principles of vehicles stability and proposes a control strategy based on fuzzy adaptive control which will adjust PID gain parameters, using genetic algorithm. A linear three-degree-of-freedom (DOF) vehicle model was set up in Simulink and the stability test was conducted utilizing jointly a joint established simulation platform with CarSim.    For controlling the brake length, traditional controllers have difficulty in guaranteeing performance and stability over a wide range of parameter changes and disturbances. Therefore, a 2 level controller by providing a modified Sliding Mode Control (SMC) will be used. Using this approach the flexibility increased and brake length and rotor temperatures decreases significantly. This results improvement of the vehicle’s stability and brakes fatigue lifespan.

Design of Adaptive Fuzzy Sliding Mode for Nonlinear System Control

An adaptive fuzzy sliding mode controller (AFSMC) is proposed in this paper. The parameters of the membership functions in the fuzzy rule base are changed according to some adaptive algorithm for the purpose of controlling the system state to hit an userdefined sliding surface and then slide along it. The initial IF-THEN rules in the AFSMC can be randomly selected or roughly given by human expe...

Adaptive Fuzzy Sliding Mode Control of Underwater Robotic Vehicles

Abstract: Sliding mode control is a very attractive control scheme because of its robustness against modelling imperfections and external disturbances. It has been successfully employed to the dynamic positioning of remotely operated underwater vehicles. In such situations, the discontinuities in the control law must be smoothed out to avoid the undesirable chattering effects. The adoption of p...

OPTIMAL SLIDING MODE CONTROL FOR SEISMIC CONTROL OF BUILDINGS EQUIPPED WITH ATMD

Active tuned mass damper (ATMD) systems have attracted the considerable attention of researchers for protecting buildings subjected to earthquake loading. This paper presentes the development of an optimal sliding mode control (OSMC) system for a building equipped with ATMD. In the OSMC technique, a linear sliding surface is used with the slope of this surface designed such that a given (or des...

Adaptive Fuzzy Dynamic Sliding Mode Control of Nonlinear Systems

Two phenomena can produce chattering: switching of input control signal and the large amplitude of this switching (switching gain). To remove the switching of input control signal, dynamic sliding mode control (DSMC) is used. In DSMC switching is removed due to the integrator which is placed before the plant. However, in DSMC the augmented system (system plus the integrator) is one dimension bi...

Indirect adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control for uncertain longitudinal brake system of hybrid electric bus

In this paper, an indirect adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control scheme is designed for hybrid electric bus. The trajectory tracking control for stopping the bus in a bus station is proposed. The control strategies of regenerative braking in the hybrid electric bus add the control difficulty of the longitudinal braking system. Its nonlinearities are estimated by adaptive fuzzy method and projecti...
